President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted a spectacular state dinner at the White House on Wednesday night to end South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s official state visit in recognition of the 70-year partnership between the two nations.
“The goal of this trip is to reinforce the connections between our two nations. It entails an agreement to help one another through difficulties and pay attention to one another’s goals. It permits us to persevere through any obstacle. “That empowers us to move further and quicker in space, cyber, technology, and those areas that matter most to our future,” Biden said in his remarks at the beginning of the event.
“To our relationship, to our people, to possibilities, and to the together that the United States and the Republic of Korea will create,” Biden toasted in his concluding remarks. I pray that we can cooperate for the next 170 years.
However, Biden wasn’t the only politician to speak. After a series of musical performances, his South Korean counterpart joined him on stage and gave his own performance, which was a karaoke cover of Don McLean’s “American Pie.” The audience applauded him and gave him a standing ovation.
The White House was decorated with a photo-ready hand-painted silk screen with Korean and American symbolism, including a magpie, a tiger, and a hibiscus for South Korea, and a bald eagle, bison, and roses for the US. The US president and first lady, who was dressed in a mauve, long sheath evening gown by Reem Acra, welcomed guests to the venue.
