In a dramatic video, skiers at Palisades Tahoe are seen desperately trying to rescue a fellow skier who has been killed by an avalanche.
Despite warnings of a high avalanche risk, Kenneth Kidd, 66 lost his life in the tragedy, and three others were injured, Tahoe Forest Hospital declared that Kidd suffered fatal injuries. Following initial medical attention, three more skiers who had non-life-threatening injuries were released.
An avalanche occurred on the Palisades side, above the GS gully area of KT-22, at around 9:30 a.m. January 10, 2024, at Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort. A search was conducted by patrol and mountain operations teams. The mountain will be closed all day on both sides.
