A Massachusetts husband and father of three pleaded guilty on Thursday to unintentionally employing an FBI agent to kill his wife. The divorce between the pair was tumultuous. Massimo Marenghi, 56, now faces almost ten years in jail as a result of his wife’s unsuccessful murder-for-hire accusation.

A mystery individual claimed that on January 1, 2021, Marenghi asked them for help killing his wife after complaining that she was requesting a restraining order against him. Law enforcement became aware of Marenghi as a result of this intelligence.

Maranghi encountered a contract killer undercover FBI agent in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where he “described a ‘situation’ he needed to take care of his ‘soon-to-be’ ex-wife,” according to charging documents made public by the prosecution. The employee “discussed a price of $10,000” to get rid of her, the prosecution claims.

Marenghi “provided the undercover agent with a photograph of his wife’s residence” and “explained how he could evade being detected by cameras while approaching the residence,” according to the lawyer’s office.

Marenghi paid Smith $1,500 in cash as payment for the crime. He also provided a picture of his wife, information about the make, model, and license plate number of her car, the location’s opening hours, and a schedule of the times he would have custody of his children, which he claimed would be the “best time for the construction work to start,” according to the report.

He discussed the job in a text message with the government agent, using terms from the construction industry. Law and Crime referred to Marenghi’s wife’s specifics as a “blueprint.” Marenghi also demonstrated to the agent how to circumvent the security measures in front of his wife’s house. Marenghi will be found guilty on June 8.
