The Massachusetts Air National Guard employee is accused of posting secret military documents online, according to a six-count indictment handed by a grand jury, the Department of Justice reported on Thursday.

The 21-year-old Jack Teixeira has been in detention since his mid-April arrest and was previously charged in a criminal complaint.
The guardsman from North Dighton, Massachusetts, is accused of using a classified workstation at Otis U.S. Air National Guard Base to take pictures of or erase private material. He then allegedly uploaded the information to the online chat service Discord. The New York Times was informed by sources that Teixeira posted the data to the site under a false name. According to Discord, it is working with federal investigators.
The wealth of data shared in a Discord forum where participants discussed the conflict in Ukraine, according to officials from the Pentagon. U.S. intelligence assessments on Ukrainian military capabilities made for Pentagon officials, including on flaws in Kyiv’s defense plan, were included in the material that was released. Additionally, documents describing techniques and activities for gathering intelligence on Russia and U.S. allies including Israel and South Korea were included in the leak.
The information in the six documents listed in the indictment relates to: Teixeira could face up to 10 years in prison on each charge.
