Vanderbilt Medical Center reports that six people were killed at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee; three adults and three pupils. Covenant School is a private Christian institution that educates children in grades kindergarten through six.

About 200 students are enrolled and regularly visit the school. Audrey E. Hale, the person of interest, entered the building but did not go inside the classroom. Within fifteen minutes, five police officers arrived at the scene and opened fire, killing the woman they had just confronted on the second story.

The shooter killed three children and three adults.

The gunman was armed with two “assault-type weapons” and a handgun, according to the police, who confronted her and killed her. The shooter was found to be a 28-year-old woman and not a teenager as originally reported.

The 6 victims fatally shot by the active shooter at Covenant School are identified as: Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all age 9, Cynthia Peak, age 61, Katherine Koonce, age 60, and Mike Hill, age 61.
