Forbes also added a few new names to the list. The top three billionaires are the same as they were the previous year: Bernard Arnault, owner of LVMH, is at the top spot, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is at the second spot, and Jeff Bezos, cofounder of Amazon, is at the third spot.
The wealthiest people in the world increased their wealth by $2 trillion in 2024, making them the wealthiest people in the world. According to Forbes, there are currently 2,781 billionaires worldwide, which is 141 more than the previous year. This year, the top 20 additions on the list amounted to more than 700 billion dollars.
The top wealthiest billionaires in the world are men, and except for No. 1 Bernard Arnault, who is French, and No. 9 Mukesh Ambani, who is Indian, the other eight are American.
Meta’s Mark Zukerberg was No. 4 and has seen a bump in earnings thanks to the rise of his stock, as has Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle.
