The two suspects reportedly went to Pennsylvania via New Jersey in an allegedly stolen Lexus that belonged to her. One of them crashed the car near Harrisburg. Later, they were seen at a car dealership trying to buy a car after crashing the stolen one.

The Pennsylvania police did not run the car’s number plates on March 13 and let the suspects escape. However, the Lower Paxton Township Police Department said that the NYPD registered the Lexus with the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) on March 14. The Pennsylvania police got a hit on March 16 and contacted the NYPD.

According to the US Marshal’s Office, Halley Tejada, 19, and Kensly Alston, 18, were arrested by a Fugitive Task Force at around 10 a.m. on Friday.

Sources say that Nadia Vitel went inside the Kips Bay apartment and found that a man and a woman were living in the 19th-floor apartment. There was a struggle, and Vitel was thrown into a sheetrock wall. The two suspects then stole her car, as per video footage, and fled the scene.

He was worried when Nadia’s son did not hear from his mother for two days. The building superintendent and other relatives accessed the apartment and found Vitel’s body in a duffle bag with a foot sticking out. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.

The police also found Vitel’s belongings in the basement garbage chute. However, they have not determined how the squatters accessed the apartment, which requires key access.
