Packsize®, the market leader in sustainable, right-sized packaging on demand®, today unveiled the Ultra5, a right-sized, on-demand box maker. It is built using the recently unveiled X5 technology. The Walmart-specific Ultra5 is already in use in a number of fulfillment centers (FCs), including the first FC that the store will open in the near future.
The Ultra5 can produce up to 600 boxes per hour while producing less waste and emissions than Packsize’s X5 machine and has the highest packaging throughput in its class in the entire business. The Packsize approach reduces packaging waste from oversized boxes, eliminates void fillers like plastic air pillows, reduces transportation emissions, and improves the end-user unboxing experience. By correctly sizing them, the technology lowers the cost and environmental impact of extraneous and pointless corrugated cartons. Furthermore, it improves parcel logistics by enabling retailers to load up to 33% more boxes onto freight and delivery vehicles, boosting the volume of orders that can be distributed to customers each day.
Walmart U.S.‘s Prathibha Rajashekhar, senior vice president of innovation & automation, claims that by collaborating with Packsize to develop the Ultra5 machine, “we developed an innovative packaging solution. This machine customizes each box to the items we are shipping to customers, reducing waste and making it easier to unbox packages once they arrive. According to the business, who is dedicated to becoming regenerative, “The Ultra5 solution is a win for our clients, the company, and our planet.
Beyond its environmental benefits, the Ultra5 is a fantastic e-commerce tool for Walmart’s fulfillment network. Its industry-leading speeds allow orders to be packaged, labeled, and ready for shipping in as little as 30 minutes, enabling faster throughput. By fastening the flaps to the sides of the box with a paper band, the innovative “Flaps Down” feature of the Ultra5 allows boxes to proceed through the packaging process without being stopped.
Walmart has made a bold effort to streamline their delivery processes by embracing cutting-edge technology, like our Ultra5 machine, according to Rod Gallaway, CEO of Packsize. “They have made a bold effort to embrace cutting-edge and cutting-edge technology, like our Ultra5 machine. It is an honor for Packsize to work with Walmart to improve customer convenience, online purchase fulfillment, and customer satisfaction.
