A few hours later, she shocked her web fans by releasing a second set of songs called The Tortured Poets Department: An Anthology, which had more songs. CWEB said the double record references Joe Alwyn, a former longtime boyfriend.
Some songs also seem to talk about Matty Healy, their short-term boyfriend, and Travis Kelce, spoken of in the next-to-last song. One song is about a mean girl, and the other is about snakes. The songs apparently diss Kim Kardashian, one about a mean girl and the other about snakes.
The album’s opener features a song with Post Malone titled Fortnight. It also features a song by Florence Welch called Florida. The album also features Taylor’s past collaborators/friends, Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner.
Although there are several significant references to her exes, Taylor Swift does not appear as a woman scorned but comes out as a poet who feels tortured due to her deep feelings and the pain and anguish she has thought through these relationships but finally emerges optimistic.
Taylor Swift channels her emotions into poetry and optimism. The album’s penultimate number has football references such as touchdowns, trophies, and benchwarmers, alluding to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, which is going strong. Both the NFL star and the record-breaking singer are happy.
Taylor Swift posted on social media, “The Tortured Poets Department. An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions, and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time” that she describes equally “sensational and sorrowful.”
The multi-Grammy winner also said the chapter in her life was “closed,” many wounds were “self-inflicted,” and tears had become ink and more. She also said that the saddest stories, when spoken about, could free a person.
Earlier, Taylor posted on social media about the “double album.” She previously spoke about her first single, Fortnight, featuring Post Malone, whom she said she is a fan of and more. Many web fans poured in love and appreciation for her new album, while critics also expressed appreciation for it. Now, it remains to be seen how many charts, streaming, and other records Taylor Swift’s 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, will break.
