Alex Murdaugh’s attorney declared that he was “mad as hell” following the leak of the phone conversation during their trial. Griffin speaks with Murdaugh about the impending trial he will face for the deaths of his wife Maggie, 52, and their son Paul, 22, in the conversation. The conversation between now-convicted double killer Alex Murdaugh and a member of his defense team was recorded in a jailhouse and made public.
A social media user tweeted a video of the call after the incident and questioned whether client-attorney confidentiality necessitated that it be kept private.
It appears that the conversation was recorded at some point during Murdaugh’s recent Colleton County, South Carolina time behind bars in the custody of the state of South Carolina, during the trial in the shooting murders of his wife and son Paul.

On the leaked call, Murdaugh can be heard stating, “Please don’t think I’m being critical because I’m not, I don’t think you could have done a better job with him.” he said from inside the Colleton County Jail. ”
But I do believe that’s something to consider because that’s one thing that seems to me to be a huge concern and that, I don’t know that the jury understands that at this time,” Murdaugh continues. Who he is referring to is unknown.
