King Charles III issued a message on Friday evening expressing his admiration for Catherine’s bravery in her speech. Earlier today, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, published a video expressing her appreciation for the numerous goodwill messages she received from online admirers. In addition, she disclosed that she is now receiving medical cancer treatment and requested confidentiality.
“His Majesty is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did.” Following their time in hospital together, HM has ‘remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks.’ Both Their Majesties ‘will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time.”
The BBC released the prerecorded video of Kate Middleton on Friday evening, which was also posted on her X account. Princess Catherine sat on a bench in Windsor with a backdrop of daffodils and other plants and trees. She was dressed casually and began the message by thanking her web fans for their support and understanding and her medical team for her treatment.
Princess Catherine then spoke about the significant abdominal surgery she underwent in London and that it was successful. She said they thought that the condition was noncancerous, but tests showed that “cancer had been present.”
Kate also said that she was in the early stages of “a course of preventive chemotherapy” and that the timing of the announcement was made while keeping in mind the wellbeing of their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. They are now home for the Easter holidays.
Princess Catherine also said that Prince William had been “a great source of reassurance and comfort” and more.
Kate Middleton ended the video by asking for space and privacy. She also addressed all those who have been impacted by cancer and said, “Please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
In a rare move away from royal protocol, earlier this year, King Charles shared that he was undergoing cancer treatment but did not share details of the stage or type of cancer. Now the Princess of Wales, Catherine has also shared a cancer diagnosis to put to rest the various rumors swirling about her. Kensington Palace has not shared the type or stage of cancer.
