Many people are pleased with the debut of Alastair Barford’s painting of King Charles III. King Charles II sports a deep blue pinstriped outfit and an indigenous bracelet. The artist studied the King at a February reception at Buckingham Palace and used that as the basis for this portrait, which was finished without a sitting. The Illustrated Coronation Edition, which hits shelves on March 30, will feature it on its cover.
Alistair Bradford, an artist, showed up at a reception in favor of biodiversity around the world. He watched the monarch at work as King Charles III. The portrait of the monarch was completed using photos and sketches from the actual occasion. By having the King wear an indigenous bracelet, he was able to subtly reference the King’s interest in and support for climate change and sustainability in the portrait.
The bracelet was given to King Charles at the worldwide diversity reception on February 17th. He was given the bracelet by Domingo Peas, a respected indigenous chief from the Amazon. The bangle is black and threaded with gold. The King wears it prominently on his left forearm. In the picture, it’s visible below his wristwatch.
The portrait has been released in time for his first official state visit to Germany, after the King postponed an earlier visit to France. King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla are currently in Germany.
Artist Alistair Barford has also painted a commissioned portrait of late Queen Elizabeth II, earlier. His portrayal of the beloved queen of the UK had received high praise as experts felt that he had captured her likeness to a greater degree when compared with many other painters.
The British artist released a statement on his portrait of King Charles II. Bradford mentioned that he “wished to capture his warmth and sensitivity, the empathy which came across in his interactions with the people he met.”
