In an interview with Diane Sawyer of ABC News to be aired on April 6, celebrity Avengers actor Jeremy Renner described how a 14,330-pound PistenBully or snowcat nearly crushed him on New Year’s Day. His nephew, whom the actor was trying to rescue when the snowcat rolled onto Renner’s property in Reno, Nevada, also spoke out for the first time.
Renner sat comfortably in a chair opposite Sawyer as he described his miraculous recovery from multiple injuries. When asked if he remembered the pain of being dragged under the car by its truck and driven over, the actor who plays Hawkeye in the Marvel movies and television programs replied, “All of it.” I was fully awake the whole time.
Renner was “in a pool of blood” and “blood was coming from his head,” as his nephew put it. According to him, he rushed to his uncle just in time because he believed he was dead. Over 30 of the Mayor of Kingstown star’s bones were fractured in the accident. Renner’s cries of pain from the 911 call were audible in the excerpt. A rallying cry to “keep fighting” was issued. He was airlifted to the hospital in critical but stabilized condition and later made a full recovery in the intensive care unit.
Renner claimed he would attempt to jump back into the moving snowcat and stop it despite his wounds because it was coming right at his nephew. But when it was brought up that he had said “I’m sorry” in sign language to his family in the hospital before he could talk, he turned tearful.
The interview will go on air five days before Renner is anticipated to show up in person at the Rennervations global premiere in Los Angeles on April 11. After the screening, the actor will participate in a Q&A for the Disney+ program, which is about remodeling cars.
This is to be his first public appearance since his perilous snow plough mishap on New Year’s Eve. The Marvel actor has been updating his admirers and followers on social media about his recovery process over the last three months. And now, according to Variety, it appears that the 52-year-old actor is preparing to make a comeback to the spotlight at the premiere of Rennervations.
The celebrity star will tour the globe in the four-part Disney series as he engages with various communities and helps them reimagine distinctive, purpose-built vehicles. The actor posted a picture of a behind-the-scenes scene from his upcoming performance on his Instagram account last month.
