According to Vanderbilt Medical Center, six people were killed in the incident; three adults and three students from Nashville, Tennessee’s Covenant School. The grades offered at Covenant School (K-6) are those of the Christian faith and are private.
The school has a daily enrollment of 200 students. Suspect Audrey E. Hale showed up at the school but didn’t go inside the classroom. Fifteen minutes after police arrived, when they finally located the lady on the second floor, five of them opened fire, killing her instantly.
“We strongly think there were going to be some other targets, including maybe family members and one of the malls here in Nashville,” Metro Police Chief John Drake told a CBS news station. Additional weapons and maps related to “maybe some thinking some other incidents” were found during a search of 28-year-old Audrey Hale’s residence, Drake said.
Nashville Police Chief John Drake said Monday, “We have a manifesto, we have some writings that we’re going over that pertain to this date, the actual incident.” “We have a map drawn out of how this was all going to take place.”
Before to Monday’s tragic shooting, Audrey Hale, the Nashville school shooter, allegedly communicated ominous messages to a former middle-school basketball friend.
In a series of direct Instagram messages to Averianna Patton at 9:57 a.m., Hale stated that she intended to kill herself and that she would probably be featured on the news. Patton spoke to WTVF, a Nashville news outlet, on Monday.
According to messages Hale sent, “One day this will make more sense,” the TV station Nashville news station WTVF shared the messages. “I’ve left behind more than enough evidence behind. But something bad is about to happen.”
According to the Gun Violence Archive (GVA), since January 1, there have been at least 130 such events in the US.
