Andrew Tate, 37, a self-proclaimed influencer, and his brother Tristan Tate will be sent back to the United Kingdom after the judicial processes against them in Romania are over. The Bucharest Court of Appeals approved the extradition arrest warrant lodged by UK authorities against the brothers on Tuesday.
Romanian authorities apprehended the Tate brothers on Monday evening after British law enforcement issued a European arrest order. The Tate brothers issued a statement indicating that the warrant was based on charges that included “accusations of sexual aggression.” The charges span from 2012 until 2015.
Authorities in Britain received reports from four women in the U.K. who claimed to have experienced physical abuse and sexual violence by Tate. Nevertheless, the Crown Prosecution Service opted against pursuing any action against him. The woman utilized crowdfunding to gather funds for her legal expenses and initiated a civil lawsuit against him.
When they received information that Andrew Tate might flee Romania, where he is facing separate charges, including alleged rape and human trafficking, they wrote to the British police asking for a warrant for Tate to be in detention in Romania and to be extradited to the U.K.
The Bucharest Court of Appeals approved the extradition warrants issued by the Westminster Magistrates Court, which will be enforced after legal proceedings against them in Romania are concluded. Still, it has ordered the Romanian police to release the brothers from detention.
In December 2022, Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Romania. They face charges of rape and human trafficking along with two female Romanian suspects. They are required to stay in Romania as the case continues. They have to report to the police station at regular intervals.
Romanian prosecutors indicted them in June. The case has been referred for trial. The brothers deny the charges.
Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer, built an online audience using hyper-masculinity. The influencer, who is considered to be a far-right misogynist, has dual citizenship in the U.S. and the U.K. He has been banned from several social media platforms for his “toxic masculinity.”
