A Colorado dentist is accused of poisoning his wife, according to an arrest warrant document, in order to start a new existence with his alleged lover. According to the document, James Toliver Craig flew his mistress, a Texas orthodontist with whom he had traded “sexually explicit” emails, to Denver while the mother of his six children was allegedly dying in the hospital.
Craig allegedly looked up information on poisons that could kill a person covertly online just two days before his 43-year-old wife, Angela Craig, was admitted to the hospital after experiencing headaches and vertigo. According to the affidavit, he allegedly requested a canister of poisonous potassium cyanide from his workplace.
He allegedly also looked up material on “pure arsenic will kill a human,” “arsenic detection in autopsy,” “undetectable poisons,” and “how to make poison” online. Craig planned to “end his wife’s life by searching for unseen means of murder, giving her poisons that correspond with her hospitalized symptoms, and working on beginning a new life with [his lover],” the affidavit states.
Angela’s health rapidly declined following her admission last Wednesday. After being placed on a ventilator, she was later pronounced brain dead. She was removed from the life support system on Sunday. based on the authorities.
The affidavit paints a picture of the circumstances leading up to the alleged murder, mentioning a troubled marriage, infidelity, financial problems, and even a previous incident where Craig is alleged to have poisoned Angela. According to Angela’s sister’s statement to the police, Craig “had multiple affairs with several women, told Angela he had been addicted to pornography since he was a teenager, and drugged Angela” for about six years.
Reports state that Craig made an effort to say that he had bought the potassium cyanide because his wife was contemplating suicide. Angela, according to the detectives, did not display any suicidal thoughts. The alleged poisoning, according to Division Chief Mark Hildebrand of the Aurora Police Department, was “a heinous, intricate, and planned murder.”
