Attorneys for the family announced in a news release that a South Carolina resort has agreed to pay $26 million to resolve a federal lawsuit brought after a 3-year-old got significant chemical burns in a pool.
The complaint exposed several years of falsification in the chlorine level statistics submitted to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Control.
During the 2020 Memorial Day weekend, the family was at Brittain Resorts’ Caribbean Resort in Myrtle Beach when the event occurred. According to the attorneys, Ashtyn’s symptoms were first detected by the family when they left the resort and went home.
